In the United States we spend billions of dollars for Valentine’s Day. Closing in on $20 billion in 2008 to show our loved ones that we love them. How bad are the times? Still spending that much this year? How about a quiet, romantic evening at home. That would work.

Valentine’s is a man made holiday. Like many others. Regardless, it is a very emotional holiday. Its a lovers holiday. Insert your favorite romantic song. For it’s Sade’s “Lover’s Rock”.

Ok, so you don’t want to cut back. So then you need to become a Truffle Pig. I searched online for the best deals. I got flowers for twenty dollars. Nice roses too. I believe they are South American Roses. A nice assortment of colors too.

I then searched for chocolates. Although Lindt came up first in my search. I choose Mrs. Fields. There is an item that looks so good, Chocolate Drenched Berries & Cookies. But they are way over my budget. Seventy dollars. So instead, I ordered a Blooming Bonnet for around twenty five dollars. Yes, so I ordered my stuff early.

If you are going to go the jewelry route then I would suggest some nice, classy costume jewelry. Sterling Silver is the next step up. You can’t go wrong with that. It never goes out of style.

According to the Greeting Card Association, an estimated one billion valentine cards are sent each year, making Valentine’s Day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year.

Approximately 85 percent of all valentines are purchased by women. In addition to the United States, Valentine’s Day is celebrated in Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, and Australia.

Cupid, draw back your bow and let your arrow flow straight to my lover’s heart for me.
